"The superconducting electric high-speed maglev train project with a speed of 600 kilometers per hour is currently progressing smoothly, and the first phase of the engineering prototype has been successfully completed in July 2024." On July 9, at the site of the National Railway Test Center, Shao Nan, a senior engineer of CRRC Changke Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "CRRC Changqing"), said in an interview with The Paper.
From July 8th to 10th, the National Railway Test Center was called a "hardcore" attraction outdoors - the permanent high-speed maglev car, the superconducting high-speed maglev vehicle and the regular low-speed maglev car were collectively unveiled. Among them, CRRC Changqing made its debut on a superconducting electric high-speed maglev train with a speed of 600 kilometers per hour.

It is understood that the superconducting electric high-speed maglev train, mainly using the electromagnetic induction between the on-board superconducting magnet and the track coil to achieve maglev operation, the maximum design speed of 600 kilometers per hour, superconducting electric maglev levitation guide gap is large, the speed space is wide, with high efficiency, safety, energy saving and environmental protection, intelligent and comfortable characteristics, can effectively fill the speed gap between the high-speed rail and the aircraft, improve travel efficiency, improve travel experience.
Previously, a maglev expert who did not want to be named told the surging news reporter that the commercial operation of transportation vehicles must first pass the safety pass. According to the regulations, the high-speed maglev technology also needs to go through a series of processes such as safety assessment and approval, in which each system equipment must be subject to type test and certification, safety assessment and certification. For example, the maximum speed of the train is 600 km/h, which means that the speed of the aircraft off the ground is much higher, so the safety assessment needs to be comprehensively considered and strictly identified from many aspects such as materials and system structure design in order to meet the basic requirements for use.
Talking about the operation positioning, Shao Nan said that the superconducting electric maglev train is positioned as a point-to-point transportation tool between large cities across the province on the trunk line, and it will be used as a supplement to the existing network to implement point-to-point transportation, "It is expected to fill the speed gap between high-speed rail and aviation within 2,000 kilometers, and it is a means of transportation that has an important impact on passenger travel." We hope that it will not only have the timeliness and safety of rail transit, but also present a speed experience close to that of aviation within 2,000 kilometers. ”

It is reported that if the train at this speed is put into commercial operation in the future, the Beijing-Shanghai journey is expected to be compressed to 2.5 to 3 hours.
Previously, a number of urban planning and maglev experts told the surging news reporter that from the perspective of commercial value or future applications, high-speed maglev lines are more suitable for application in some large-scale urban agglomerations with more high-end passenger flow. From the perspective of energy consumption, the longer the distance, the comprehensive benefits and advantages will be more obvious, otherwise, the short-distance maglev line will be frequently started and braked, it is difficult to give full play to the advantages of maglev technology, and the passenger experience may not be good. However, if the high-speed maglev line only serves Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, the passenger flow will be far from enough, for example, like the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway, about 2/3 of the passenger flow is cross-line passenger flow, that is, the boarding and disembarking are not concentrated in Beijing and Shanghai, and the future fare should be higher than the high-speed rail, so on the basis of safety assurance, it will take a long time before commercial operation.
In terms of the core performance of the superconducting electric high-speed maglev train, Shao Nan told reporters that the core of the superconducting electric high-speed maglev train lies in the on-board high-temperature superconducting magnet - its superconducting pole can generate a strong magnetic field of more than 5 T to provide reliable traction for the train. The whole vehicle is also equipped with a cryostat and a cryogenic refrigeration unit to ensure the stable operation of the superconducting system under extreme conditions.

In addition, the body shell is made of high-strength aluminum alloy and carbon fiber composite materials, the streamlined front greatly reduces aerodynamic resistance, and the suspension frame is compatible with the needs of "dual-mode" low-speed running and high-speed suspension. The system meets the GoA4 autonomous driving standard, integrates 5G communication and AI monitoring, and deploys multiple redundancy and electromagnetic protection to take into account efficient operation, safety and reliability, and intelligent comfort.
"This model has full autonomous driving capabilities. The application of fully autonomous driving technology in the long trunk line requires the integration of 5G communication, AI video capture, sound sensing and other technologies, and the deployment of various sensors along the line, which is undoubtedly a comprehensive application of the latest technology. Shao Nan further pointed out that in terms of material application, low-temperature superconducting materials started in the 70s of the last century, and high-temperature superconducting materials began in the 90s of the last century.

In addition, Shao Nan also said, "Our team has independently completed the design of the whole chain from materials, coils to cryostats, refrigeration system equipment, etc. In this process, we also work with domestic universities and high-tech institutes to tackle key problems, take the initiative to link the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain, and jointly promote the implementation of technology and industrial improvement. If the model is applied on a large scale in the future, it will have a strong driving effect on the upstream and downstream of the rail transit industry chain, the superconducting industry and other high-tech fields, and become a typical representative of cultivating new quality productivity. ”
China Railway Group said that the concentrated exhibition of maglev vehicles is not only a testimony of the strength of China's maglev technology from theoretical research to engineering practice, but also demonstrates our country's independent innovation ability of the whole industry chain in the field of high-end equipment manufacturing. With the iteration and optimization of technology, maglev vehicles are expected to play an important role in the future transportation system, injecting new momentum into people's travel modes and economic and social development.
